World Smile Day

Friday, October 7 is world smile day! This observational day is recognized on the first Friday of October every year to celebrate the smiley face. Although this may seem like a silly holiday, it gives us a moment to appreciate all that smiling can do.

Smiling and laughing can help:

  • Increase positivity
  • Boost your immune system
  • Improve your mood
  • Decrease stress

When you smile or laugh, physical benefits happen- the body releases endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, which can help regulate your mood and negative emotions. Laughing itself can increase your oxygen intake and lower blood pressure.

Smiling may seem like a small part of our busy lives but is arguably one of the most important parts. We all have a favorite something that puts a smile on our faces, whether it’s a movie, song, book, television show, friend, pet, or anything else you could think of.

Not only is smiling good for you, but it’s infectious and can easily spread to the other people in your life who may need a good smile the most. Let’s use today as a reminder that there are still things we can smile about, and try to spread that joy to the people in your life.

Music can be so powerful in boosting our moods and making us smile, listening to positive music can help pull you out of your everyday funk. Here at Rock Digi, we believe in the power of using music as a tool for your mental health.

Rock Digi uses music in all of our lessons to help kids connect to the information on a deeper level. Each lesson features a different song covering a variety of topics surrounding mental health, social-emotional learning, and life skills for success.

Rock Digi has lessons for kids spanning from second grade through high school that help with relationship skills from having empathy, to accepting others, to building healthy relationships with real friends.
